Rosen Serien is a Swedish line of purely natural hair and skin care products
for the entire body and the entire family. Before you start reading about
how these products can dramatically affect the well-being of your own
life, I'd like the share the story with you of how they came into existence.
About 40 years ago my mother, Laine Nilsson, became increasingly concerned
about the damage done to her skin by the harsh chemical products she used
in her work as a hairdresser. The skin on her face and hands started flaking
off. She decided to investigate the content of the products used to perm
and colour the hair to find out exactly what was having such a disastrous
effect on her body. The cause was the significant quantities of ammonia,
aluminium and other chemicals in these products. Laine then tried to find
out about the contents of the skin care products she herself was using.
Although the quantities were not as great, she found that the same ingredients
were used in the lotions she was applying directly to her own skin.
Laine began to research possible alternatives, as she had always been
interested in alternative medicine, homeopathy and other organic solutions.
Finally, in the beginning of the 1980s, she was ready to start up her
own line of natural products. With her friend Agneta Tornqvist, she contacted
local chemists to devise a wholly natural line of hair and skin care products.
We learned in autumn 1993 that my mother had terminal cancer. All those
poisonous chemicals in the hairdressing products had left their traces
in her body. Other than the chemicals she came into contact with in her
work, she had always been careful about eating organic food, using biodegradable
products and living an active and stress-free life.
Today I manage Rosen Serien in her place, and continue her passion for
healthy skin care. I am committed to pursuing my mother's lead and telling
people about the ways they can avoid harming their bodies.
Rosen Serien products contain raw materials which are well known for
not causing allergic reactions. They are tested dermatalogically but not
tested on animals. Instead of containing synthetic additives and fragrances
they have the sweet scent of rose oil, which is tolerated by many people
who are allergic to other perfumes. The products are pH-balanced and offer
an effective combination of vitamins, minerals, proteins, trace elements
and anti-oxidants. The recipes for Rosen Serien are based on aloe vera
gel, not water, which makes them long-lasting and necessitates the minimum
of preservatives. These days, most major cosmetic companies realise that
only by relying on the highest quality of organic raw materials is it
possible to aid and care for the skin in the correct way. And that entails,
for example, using the staggering quantity of 5,000 kilogrammes of roses
to extract one litre of rose oil.
Rosen Serien is committed to using only the highest quality of organic
raw materials, although this is expensive when compared to the cheaper
organic materials used in many natural products. The plants and herbs
we use are grown under wholly organic cultivation, which means that the
materials are not sprayed with herbicides or fertilisers and are harvested
by hand. Cheaper materials are frequently less effective as they do not
contain agents to stimulate cell growth. There is no mineral oil or other
petroleum products in Rosen Serien products, as these lead to obstruction
of the pores and create a dependency on lubricating oils. Mineral oils
contain none of the necessary fatty acids, vitamins or minerals for cellular
growth. These lubricating oils should be used in your car, and not on
your skin.
The collagen we use is extracted from the plant kingdom. Many other cosmetic
companies use connective tissue, from, for example, calves. None of the
Rosen Serien products use any materials taken from animals, reptiles,
fish or insects, the only exception being beeswax. Since it is so crucial
to protect the world's remaining rain forests, we use the oils from palm
and coconut trees which are grown under cultivation. The preservatives
in Rosen Serien are those found naturally in berries and currants, such
as red whortleberries and cloudberries. Strong alcohols, which dry out
the epidermis, are not used. All product packaging is made from recyclable
and non-toxic plastic, and even the printing on the packaging is friendly
to the environment. We list the ingredients on the products so that our
customers are able to understand clearly exactly what they are smoothening
into their skin. All Rosen Serien products are made in Sweden. All Rosen
Serien products are approved by the European Union´s authorities
and Sweden´s Medical Products Agency.
